Tip #1
Don’t be fooled when someone tells you that you are not able to put laminate flooring in certain rooms of the house.
Laminate flooring can be installed in virtually every room of the house. Some people say it isn’t to smart to put it in the bathroom but this simply isn’t true. You can put it in bathroom, kitchen, basement, and on the stairs.
Laminate is perfect for high traffic areas and for people with allergy issues. Laminate is considered very helpful in keeping allergy sufferers happy.
Another issue that gets argued is whether or not you can install it over other surfaces. Laminate can be installed over wood subfloors, concrete subfloors, and other hard surface type flooring with its easy tongue and groove construction. The flooring virtually floats on top of the subfloor.
Tip #2
Be sure before you buy, you decide what type of construction your laminate flooring is. The reason why is because there are two types of laminate flooring that are better suitable for different environments.
Type one is a high-pressure lamination. This means that the bottom and top layers are heated and pressurized then fused to the core with glue. Which makes it a lot more impact- and dent-resistant.
Type two is a direct-pressure lamination. This means that it is assembled all at once, then filled with a hardening resin using heat and pressure to create the laminate piece. This is going to be more economical and offer a very good quality with a little less impact resistance.
Be sure you know what you need the floor to be able to withstand before you decided on a final laminate decision that way you won’t be replacing pieces as often.
Tip #3
You must know that laminate flooring cannot be refinished. This means that if you damage a piece you will have to replace it completely. So if you feel that the area you will be putting the laminate will be dealing with lots of stress, you may want to consider wood flooring instead if you are looking for that type of look.
The great thing about laminate though it is very strong and solid. Be sure to consider these points before you buy laminate for that specific room. Thinking ahead of the type of activity the room will experience so you can decide on the right type of laminate.
Tip #4
There will be a thin underlayment of foam that the laminate will be laid on top of that you will need to purchase as well. You may find a great laminate product at one website then find the thin foam at another great website. Just be sure to calculate that into your costs.
Don’t forget to order that when you order your laminate so you aren’t delayed in construction time. Some places don’t mention that you need a underlayment. Laminate is made to expand and contract so it won’t need anything to fasten it to the floor because it floats.
Tip #5
Some people don’t know this but you can buy laminate that looks like brick, stone, exotic wood, or even exotic stones. Be sure you understand that laminate is a very impressive floor type that will deliver great performance at a low cost.
I say this because if you are thinking about a tile look or something similar you can still achieve that look with laminate and not have the pitfalls of the other flooring types cost and breakage. Be sure to really search deep to find a great pattern that suits you.
I couldn’t possibly express all the great ways you can save yourself from making mistakes in this short article post if you want more information click here.
I have friends that have been in the flooring industry for over 40 years and I actually helped them put in a floor in their entertainment room. The owner of the company explains to me all the time the inherit concerns of the people he contracts all the time. Check out more great information here http://www.wantflooring.com/
